Therapy Approaches

 We often find it helpful to talk problems through with a friend or family member, buy sometimes friends and family cannot help us.  Talk therapy involves talking to someone who is trained to help you deal with your negative feelings.  Talk therapy gives people the chance to explore their thoughts and feelings and the effect they have on their own behavior and mood.  Describing what is going on in you head and how that makes you feel can help you notice any patterns.  This may be help and focus to change.  It can help you work out where your negative feelings and ideas come from and why they are there.  Understanding all this can help people make positive changes by thinking or acting differently.  Talk therapy can help people to take greater control of their lives and improve their confidence. 

Play is the way children communicate.  It was aptly pointed our that play is a child's language while toys are their words. Play offers children the opportunity to practice new skills in a way that makes sense to them while looking to adults to understand.  Through play, there are no mistakes too great to overcome or no challenge too difficult to attempt.  Play offers children the opportunity to maintain their sense of self while they create and develop in order to master their world.

    The effectiveness of play can be separated into eight categories: communication, emotional regulations, relationship enhancement, moral judgement, stress management, ego boosting, preparation for life, and self-actualization.  It is fun, educational, creative, stress relieving, and encourages positive interaction.
